Heather Alexa Woodfield

BIO
Heather Alexa Woodfield is an executive leader, creative strategist, filmmaker, and artist with a background in management, operations, movement building, public administration, finance, technology, events, research, advocacy, artistic direction, and writing. She is committed to fostering collaborations across the creative and cultural disciplines.

Heather was the Executive Director of One Percent for Culture from 2011 to 2017, where she built a cross-sector coalition, including over 500 cultural organizations of all sizes and disciplines, and spearheaded advocacy efforts that led to the first increase in NYC expense funding for culture in a decade. She currently serves as the Deputy Director at Aubin Pictures, where she drives strategic organizational development around administration, operations, and film production.

Her artistic work fuses film, dramatic writing, performance, costume, and social practice art. She has created, written, and produced theatrical experiences for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Chashama, the High Line, the New Museum’s Ideas City, and FIGMENT (NYC, Philadelphia, DC, Toronto). Her film credits include Beauty is Pain (Director, Writer, and Editor), Wide Time: An HIV Odyssey (Editor), and Paint Me a Road Out of Here (Line Producer).

She holds a BFA in Film and Television from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, an MPA from Columbia University's School of International and Public Administration, an MA in Transdisciplinary Arts, Culture and Practice from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, and a Millinery Certificate from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
